Steps to Calculate the Concrete Requirements
1️⃣ Unit Conversion
- If dimensions are in inches, convert them to feet.
- If volume is in cubic inches, convert it to cubic feet.
2️⃣ Area Calculation
- Square / Rectangle:
Area = Length × Width - Circle:
Area = 3.1416 × (Diameter ÷ 2)²
3️⃣ Volume Calculation
- The volume is calculated by multiplying the area by the slab thickness.
- Since 1 cubic foot = 1728 cubic inches, the volume in cubic feet is: Volume = (Area × Thickness) ÷ 1728
4️⃣ Bag Estimation
- An 80lb bag of concrete covers approximately 0.6 cubic feet.
- The number of bags needed is calculated as: Bags Needed = Volume ÷ 0.6
- Round up to the nearest whole number.
5️⃣ Result Display
- The table lists the number of 80lb bags required for slab thicknesses ranging from 3 inches to 40 inches in 1-inch increments.
