Steps to Calculate the Concrete Requirements

1️⃣ Unit Conversion

  • If dimensions are in inches, convert them to feet.
  • If volume is in cubic inches, convert it to cubic feet.

2️⃣ Area Calculation

  • Square / Rectangle:
    Area = Length × Width
  • Circle:
    Area = 3.1416 × (Diameter ÷ 2)²

3️⃣ Volume Calculation

  • The volume is calculated by multiplying the area by the slab thickness.
  • Since 1 cubic foot = 1728 cubic inches, the volume in cubic feet is: Volume = (Area × Thickness) ÷ 1728

4️⃣ Bag Estimation

  • An 80lb bag of concrete covers approximately 0.6 cubic feet.
  • The number of bags needed is calculated as: Bags Needed = Volume ÷ 0.6
  • Round up to the nearest whole number.

5️⃣ Result Display

  • The table lists the number of 80lb bags required for slab thicknesses ranging from 3 inches to 40 inches in 1-inch increments.
